MVP development cost in 2026: published prices, and what makes an MVP minimal

Published 2026 MVP development prices by complexity and product type, what pushes an MVP into the next bracket, and how to keep the first release small.

Published 13 October 2026 · Pricient by IOanyT

The short answer

Published 2026 prices put a lean MVP at $15,000–$30,000 over 4–8 weeks, a standard MVP at $30,000–$65,000 or $80,000, and complex MVPs from $65,000–$80,000 upward. Fintech and healthcare start higher. Pricient's launch-ready MVP starts from $7,500, fixed once your spec is agreed. What decides the number is what you leave out of release one.

What pushes an MVP into the next bracket

AreaWhy it costs more
Two kinds of userA marketplace is two products — buyers and sellers — plus the part in between
PaymentsRefunds, failed payments and payouts arrive on day one, not later
Regulated dataHealth or financial data has to be handled properly from the first release
IntegrationsEach outside system has an owner, limits and its own sign-in
Several platformsiPhone, Android and web are three things to build and test
An admin sideSomeone has to manage users and content — often a second app

The cheapest MVP is the one with a short first release

“Minimum” is a decision, not a size. The most useful document in an MVP project is the list of what is not in release one — password reset by text message, a second language, an admin dashboard with charts. Each item on that list is a feature you can still add, at a price you know, once real users tell you it matters.

Questions to ask any MVP quote

  1. What is not included? Ask for the list in writing.
  2. What does the price assume? Users, platforms, languages, who writes the content.
  3. Are tests and a security review lines in the quote?
  4. What support follows launch, and for how long?
  5. How is a change priced — before you approve it, or on the invoice?

The launch-ready MVP starts from $7,500, fixed once your spec is agreed: live 3 weeks after the spec is agreed, security-hardened, 80% test coverage and three months of support.

Questions

Asked about this

How much does it cost to build an MVP in 2026?

Published ranges put a lean MVP at $15,000–$30,000 and a standard MVP at $30,000–$65,000 (Upsilon, July 2026) or $30,000–$80,000 (URLaunched, 2026). Complex MVPs start at $65,000–$80,000 and run past $150,000. Pricient's launch-ready MVP starts from $7,500, fixed once your spec is agreed.

How long does an MVP take to build?

Both published sources put a lean MVP at 4–8 weeks and a standard one at 2–4 months; complex builds take 4–8 months. A Pricient launch-ready MVP goes live 3 weeks after the spec is agreed.

Why do fintech and healthcare MVPs cost more?

Because the first release already has to handle money or patient data properly. One firm publishes $80,000–$250,000+ for a fintech MVP and $60,000–$200,000+ for healthcare, against $30,000–$80,000 for a typical SaaS MVP (URLaunched, 2026).

Is $7,500 a fixed price?

It is the starting price. The price becomes fixed once your specification is agreed — you see the specification, the list of what is not included and the itemized quote before you pay anything, and the quote is locked for 14 days.
